step 1- choose your topic
To help with finding topic ideas, you can choose the topics page. On each page, there is a symbaloo that takes you to web pages that have information about those topics.
step 2- goal setting
In addition to your teacher setting goals, students may want to set goals as well. Some examples of goals could include:
How many notefacts you must gather, how many research questions you should develop, how many sources you should consider using, when your project should be completed, what type of product could be created, and how you could present your work. Looking at your grade level pages on the subpages above can help you with this step.

step 3- research
Research is one of the most important steps to the process. After creating your research question, you should begin your research. If you need help with research questions, you can use the research question subpage above under the IIM model tab. Some of your research may be print based (such as books) while some may be web based. See the electronic resources tab and the subpages for help with databases, web and google searches.
step 4-organize
After you have finished your research, you should organize your information into categories. See your grade level page (under IIM research model) for more information on how to organize your categories.
step 5- goal evaluation
This is a very easy, but important step. In this step, you go back to look at the goals that were set. Did you answer your research questions? Did you find enough sources? Did you gather enough note cards? You may need to go back to find more information on a particular research question. Or if you have only internet sources, you may want to consider adding print sources. This is the time for you to proof your work to make sure you have accomplised the goals you set.
ste6 6- product
The product is the step in which you gather all of your organized information and create a document. If you are using Microsoft Word to write your paper, you may want to look under sample paper to check out the MW tips and tricks page.
step 7- presentation
In step 7, you may be asked to present your project. Check with your teachers to see how they would like you to present your project.
